Grams to Pounds and Ounces Converter (g <-> lbs/oz)

Digitaldutch already has a pretty good unit converter for mass, but for baby weights it doesn’t satisfy American mother-in-laws who want more than pounds with decimals.  My mother-in-law already has a tourist’s conversion for Celsius and Fahrenheit, which is her most popular page, so I figured a conversion from grams to pounds and ounces for baby weights (and vice versa) might be a useful little thing to publish.

Here’s my google docs spreadsheet to convert grams to pounds and ounces or pounds and ounces to grams – see the preview below.  Click on the link to edit it and make conversions, and please be nice to it.  Thanks!

Thank you! Now I know Joseph is profiting from his and his mother’s feeding efforts — as if I couldn’t tell by the rounding out of his flesh. 🙂

I found today that the Aussies had done it already, and done it better (though perhaps not with the same accuracy): Here is another Grams to Pounds and Ounces Converter.

Also, if you use the document I made, please don’t type anything into the green cells! They contain the formulas to calculate the conversion results.

I’ve updated it, because people seem unable to use it correctly. Now one can enter kilograms directly in an orange field. The previous (calculated) kilogram cell seems to have been far too tempting – the formula that calculates kilograms from grams keeps getting overwritten. Let’s see if the extra row helps. Here it is, in case the link has changed: grams or kilograms to pounds and ounces converter

I know you aren’t – the document reveals who used it last. While that’s not a smoking gun, it’s a good hunch. It’s a simple enough document that I don’t mind fixing it, so even if you do slip up and Google saves it on you faster than you can say “autosave,” you don’t have to feel too bad.
