In parenting, I'm constantly being taught to listen better and more intelligently. In the first video Joseph says "ing, ing, ing" and at the time I thought maybe he was saying "Vivienne", but now I know he was saying "English." He often asks me to count in English or German and sometimes makes me switch half-way through. But when I focus on getting him to perform for me (i.e. count for the camera) my ears turn off! It makes me wonder how much intelligent communication our children give us that we miss. It must be frustrating, but they keep on trying!
