Agreeing to the “I accept” part is bad enough, and to say of a brief skimming, “I read” is testing the tensile strength of the truth, but to say “I understood” is an outright falsehood. We once asked a lawyer about it, and he said, “Oh, I never read those things. They’re meaningless.”
