{"id":141,"date":"2008-03-03T14:19:49","date_gmt":"2008-03-03T13:19:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.morbidcornflakes.ch\/thduggies_blog\/?p=141"},"modified":"2008-03-03T14:19:49","modified_gmt":"2008-03-03T13:19:49","slug":"healesville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thduggie.com\/thduggies_blog\/2008\/healesville","title":{"rendered":"Healesville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, February 23, Ken (one of my business partners) took me on a drive out to Healesville, named after one of the first Governors of Australia, where tourism and the <a title=\"Healesville Sanctuary\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zoo.org.au\/HealesvilleSanctuary\" target=\"_blank\">Healesville Sanctuary<\/a> have replaced logging as the main revenue generators.\u00c2\u00a0 Below are pictures from that outing.\u00c2\u00a0 The platypus is missing, as is the wombat and the Tasmanian devil &#8211; for different reasons.\u00c2\u00a0 The platypussary is too dark for pictures, but that&#8217;s a fair trade-off for getting to see these odd creatures putting on a show.\u00c2\u00a0 The wombat (Florence) lay curled up, sleeping in the straw, looking like a stack of pelts as much as anything.\u00c2\u00a0 The Tasmanian devil, acting counter to its name, had withdrawn and was neither to be seen nor its shrieks to be heard.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Melbourne ANZ buildings\" alt=\"Melbourne ANZ buildings\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thduggie.com\/albums\/zzz_blog_zzz\/20080223Healesville001PRT.jpg\" align=\"top\" \/><br \/>\nThis is still Melbourne CBD (Central Business District).\u00c2\u00a0 The older building used to be the stock exchange, if I remember correctly, and now houses the banking museum; the building behind it is the new ANZ bank, full of visual nods to the original, but first and foremost bigger.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Yarra winery\" alt=\"Yarra winery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thduggie.com\/albums\/zzz_blog_zzz\/20080223Healesville002LSC.jpg\" align=\"top\" \/><br \/>\nWe stopped at the <a title=\"Yering Farm winery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.yeringfarmwines.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yering Farm winery<\/a> in Yarra valley for a\u00c2\u00a0brief tasting.\u00c2\u00a0 Ken preferred the Merlot, I the Pinot Noir.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"parakeets\" alt=\"parakeets\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thduggie.com\/albums\/zzz_blog_zzz\/20080223Healesville008PRT.jpg\" align=\"top\" \/><br \/>\nParakeets, I think.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Brown falcon\" alt=\"Brown falcon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thduggie.com\/albums\/zzz_blog_zzz\/20080223Healesville020LSC.jpg\" align=\"top\" \/><br \/>\nBrown falcon, I think.\u00c2\u00a0 All the raptors were part of the &#8220;Birds of Prey&#8221;
