{"id":516,"date":"2012-11-17T21:45:44","date_gmt":"2012-11-17T20:45:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.morbidcornflakes.ch\/thduggies_blog\/?p=516"},"modified":"2012-11-17T21:45:44","modified_gmt":"2012-11-17T20:45:44","slug":"howd-he-find-the-time-to-write-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thduggie.com\/thduggies_blog\/2012\/howd-he-find-the-time-to-write-that","title":{"rendered":"How&#8217;d he find the time to write that?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, the free paper 20 Minuten carried a <a title=\"Stefan Bachmann: Interview\" href=\"http:\/\/www.20min.ch\/panorama\/news\/story\/26739119\" target=\"_blank\">story<\/a> on <a title=\"Stefan Bachmann\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stefanbachmann.com\/about.php\" target=\"_blank\">Stefan Bachmann<\/a>, a 19-year-old author living in the Canton of Zurich who&#8217;d written a <a title=\"The Peculiar\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-Peculiar-Stefan-Bachmann\/dp\/0062195182\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1353182563&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=the+peculiar\" target=\"_blank\">steampunk novel<\/a> that was doing great in the US.\u00c2\u00a0 As I read it, the similarities to <a title=\"Christopher Paolini\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christopher_Paolini\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Paolini<\/a>, the young author who wrote <em>Eragon<\/em>, became too obvious, and I wondered if Bachmann, like Paolini, was homeschooled.<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough, his homepage confirms that, and even the online edition of the 20 Minuten article contains that information (the printed one didn&#8217;t).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Sie haben mit 19 Jahren ein erfolgreiches Buch ver\u00c3\u00b6ffentlicht \u00e2\u20ac\u201c sind Sie ein Genie?<\/strong><br \/>\nDas kann man so nicht sagen. Ich habe einfach hart gearbeitet, im Erfolg stecken etwa 90 Prozent Arbeit und 10 Prozent Talent. Ich wurde ausserdem zu Hause unterrichtet, was mir auch sehr geholfen hat.
