Wordle: 20'000 Leagues Under the Sea

The Euronanoforum in Prague introduced me to Wordle – it’s a long story better kept short.  I’ve tried to demonstrate what if can do by pasting the text of Jules Verne’s 20’000 Leagues Under the Sea into the text box.  Have fun graphically evaluating other literature or even your own blog at www.wordle.net!

How fun! The one I made is called Engineering Class and is based on a writing assignment I had the boys do. I note that you can get some unfortunate combinations. I guess I could have played around with it a bit more, but I liked how it looked overall. S

It is very cool. How do I find Engineering Class — I couldn’t find a search feature. Then again, I’m running on much too little sleep, so maybe it’s obvious….

I can’t find S’s Wordle either, and I clicked through the entire gallery (older» older» older» etc.) until I got to 20’000 Leagues Under the Sea. So I must have missed it and can’t post a link to it, but I decided I’d make another one based on my short story Mizzouse in the Hizzouse (http://www.thduggie.com/writtens/mizzouse.html). It’s here:

Wow, that was hard to find. I figured out that they were time stamped and based upon when I left my comment I figured out how many hours ago that was and paged until I found it. They need a search feature. If they have one, let me know. Hopefully this link sends you to the right page.

    From the forum section:

“As long as you always save your wordles to the gallery with the same
username you can search for them by entering the following into your
    browser address bar:

    http://www.wordle.net/gallery?username=

adding your username after the =

That is currently the only way to search for wordles. ”

Since I used “Anonymous” that won’t help. I’ll use something else for the future.

It did come out, now that I got around to approving your e-mail address. Every time you use a new e-mail, I need to approve your comment before it appears.

That’s funny; I didn’t realize I was using a new e-mail address. I let it fill in automatically and didn’t even look at it.

I’ve now contributed three Wordles; you can find them, and any subsequent creations, at SursumCorda.

I thought it looked like an airplane too. This is so fun. It would be a neat cover for a notebook. I wonder what else we could do with it?

What else one could do? Well, for instance, find out just why Barack Obama beat John McCain via Nomination Acceptance Speech Wordle:

Obama: Wordle: Barack Obama Democratic Nomination Acceptance Speech

McCain: Wordle: John McCain Republican Nomination Acceptance Speech

I guess Americans preferred promise to fighting…

I think each one spent too much time talking about his opponent!

The platforms look disgustingly similar to me. That probably says a lot, unfortunately. And they both used the word “government” too frequently, although it must be admitted that Wordle doesn’t distinguish between speaking of big government and limited government.

Your “government” comment is perceptive, because if you look at the Libertarian party platform you find they use the word even more, even though they want to reduce it. And parties, by their nature, are about how to organize government.

What the Wordle doesn’t do is look for good ideas and nonsense, which are both plentiful. For instance, you’d like the Constitution Party’s explicit support of homeschooling, but then one finds that they want to rescind foreign aid and collect all debts owed the US. Let’s just hope nobody comes collecting those we owe!

Anyway, here are the remaining party platforms of parties in contention of electoral college majority (so I’m not going to wordle the Marijuana Party Platform, for instance – “WE are Americans and WE do not piss in a cup for anyone!”).
