Back in the day, I bought the computer game Lemmings. I’m not sure I ever finished it, and I doubt it would run on my computer today, but should I ever have too much time on my hands and a nostalgia for days gone by, here’s where to start over: DHTML Lemmings.
Oh, my. We have that, too — though probably not in a form any of our current computers could read. I remember enjoying it, and Porter played it until he finished, then refused to have anything more to do with it because it had taken over way too much of his life. It’s really a good thing that he grew up before the days of WOW and … er, whatever that game was that Janet’s friends played so much in Japan.
I’m tempted to check it out, but right now I’m too Phoeble-minded with a certain quilt project that keeps me glued to the computer much too much as it is.
Very fun. I actually tried to get Lemmings running a couple months ago – didn’t work in a virtual environment, either WinXp or Win95, which I’m pretty sure the version I have is a DOS program, but it ran under Win95.
Omg … they need to do this for Monkey Island!
Apparently, instantaction.com has done that, but I can’t get the website to display – and the game isn’t free.
Or you download the SCUMM Virtual Machine and play the old games on your computer – or smartphone!
(I happen to know that Monkey Island, at least the third one, plays fine on my virtual WinXP)
